Masterson’s Lounge, located in the heart of Moonee Ponds , markets itself as a trendy “hipster” hangout , but my latest trip at this establishment resulted in an experience I’d rather forget . While the bar may look welcoming at first glance , what I discovered behind its threshold was disturbing and far below any standard .
Cleanliness Issues : Squalid and Disregarded
From the moment I crossed the threshold, it was evident that hygiene was not a priority at this bar . The surfaces were tacky , and a pungent odor of old alcohol and neglected washrooms filled the entire pub. With a smell of a mixture of excrement , decay and a sickly smell. The main bar, which should be the centerpiece of any pub, was cluttered with dirty glasses and litter that looked like it had accumulated over weeks. The lavatory was in even worse condition — backed up, with a broken handle and walls stained in what I can only assume was fecal matter .
